AMC is a world-class training provider and it is disappointing that the tender for the Pacific Maritime Training Services program has been awarded to Queensland, after the program has taken up residence in Tasmania for some time.

However, it is important to stress that the result is the result of a competitive bidding process, the results of which are not guaranteed.

I understand that CMA seeks to strategically deploy assigned personnel, and I remain incredibly optimistic about CMA’s future in Tasmania and indeed around the world.

AMC is exploring new opportunities in specialist areas such as autonomous vehicles and the design and delivery of digital training solutions for the international online maritime training markets.

I recently went to Canberra to pursue a range of business and defense opportunities for Tasmania, which included exploring future AMC training opportunities. These discussions have been positive and are continuing.

The Australian government is investing heavily in the Defense and Navy Innovation and Design Zone at AMC, which supports the Government of Tasmania’s goal of building research, education and training capabilities in world-class defense and national security.

The venue will form a national hub for defense industry and research collaboration, and strengthen the University of Tasmania’s national and international networks (UTAS), supporting and promoting Australian expertise in defense.

There is a huge opportunity for manufacturers and institutions in Tasmania in the country’s $ 270 billion effort to modernize and bring sovereign industrial capabilities to our maritime, land and aerospace defense capabilities needs, over the next decade. .

Additionally, our Tasmanian Defense Industry Strategy provides the certainty and strategic direction we have promised the industry to ensure they can take their defense capabilities to the next level.

While this decision is disappointing, AMC will continue to seek new opportunities here and abroad.
