OneOcean and Simwave Collaborate to Expand Training Service Delivery – Digital Ship

OneOcean has signed a partnership agreement with Simwave, the Dutch provider of training, assessment and applied research services to the maritime sector.

The educational partnership will allow OneOcean customers to benefit from Simwave’s expertise and catalog of online and classroom training. These include Deck Resource Management (BRM), Convention on the Avoidance of Collisions at Sea (COLREG) regulations, as well as technical training on deck, engine and cargo equipment.

The two companies will cooperate in the development of new and expanded training using OneOcean’s product offering and dynamic content on industry topics, such as environmental risks and compliance issues.

The first online courses under this agreement will be available in the second quarter of this year. These will cover navigational requirements regarding digital switchover and environmental planning. Additional training courses and best practice guidelines will be added quarterly thereafter.

As part of this agreement, OneOcean will be able to use Simwave’s training facilities in the Netherlands, Manila and Fort Lauderdale. The company has more than 5,000 m2 of training center space and 59 maritime simulators at its Amsterdam facilities. Simwave’s learning management and skill management systems track and learn crew skills.

Nicholas Bourque, Chief Strategy Officer at OneOcean, said, “OneOcean believes that software can play a key role in driving the industry forward to meet the ever-changing challenges it faces. However, this must go hand in hand with providing seafarers with the latest training services. We believe this approach can help users make full use of available software tools and enable our customers to adopt new technologies smoothly and efficiently.
