Adding a YouTube video to your PowerPoint presentation is a great way to make it exciting and engaging. It might be a low bar with a PowerPoint, but if you can keep people watching and listening longer, you’re more likely to get a good result from your presentation.
Here’s how to embed a YouTube video in PowerPoint to make it the best it can be.
Embed a YouTube video in PowerPoint
Step 1: Head to the slide where you want to embed a YouTube video by clicking on it in the sidebar section, where all your slides are. Now click on the exact area where you want to add the video, such as the title header or in the main body text below.
2nd step: Click it Insert tab at the top. Select the Video icon. From the drop-down list that appears, select online video.
Please note that PowerPoint 2019 and Microsoft 365 PowerPoint versions will allow you to embed a video by copying and pasting only the YouTube video link.
Step 3: Open the video you want to embed on YouTube. Under the video player, click Share then the To integrate icon. Under the Embed video title, click on the Embed code once, which will select the entire section of code. Click it Copy or use the keyboard shortcut (CTRL + VS under Windows).
Step 4: Return to your PowerPoint presentation window after copying the necessary code. Within the From a video embed code section, paste the code into the adjacent field. Click it Walk in button on your keyboard or click on the small gray button Arrow.
Customizing the Embedded YouTube Video
Step 1: You can customize how you want the video to play on your slide. Click it Proofreading and make necessary adjustments, such as autoplaying the video or playing only when you click on the video itself.
2nd step: You can also click on the video frame, then right-click and select the Format video tab for other editing tools, such as brightness, video size, etc.
Insert a video file directly into PowerPoint
If you prefer to embed a video in your PowerPoint presentation with a video contained in your system, Microsoft provides an option to do so.
Step 1: Choose exactly where you want to add a video file. Click it Insert tab and select the tab Video icon. Click it Video on my PC domain.
2nd step: Navigate to the video you want to insert, then double-click it or click once and select it. To open button. Microsoft PowerPoint will integrate the video with its own media player.
Remember that if you prefer the option of inserting a video directly from your PC and you will need to show the presentation via an external system, remember to save the PowerPoint and video files to your USB, external hard drive, etc. Otherwise, it will not be able to play the video. Also, add them both in a single folder so that they are interconnected to ensure playback.
